Preschool

Preschool - A Early years …,

A child’s early years are the foundation for his or her future development, providing a strong base for lifelong learning and learning abilities, including cognitive and social development. Well-established research continues to emphasize the importance of early childhood education as an essential building block of a child’s future success.

We have divided our preschool programme in to 4 main stages

1.Play Group
( 2 years to 3 years – according to the recent Govt notification regarding age criteria of NEP).

In a play group we follow Play- Based method. Play-based learning is a type of early childhood education based on child-led and open-ended play. Play itself is a voluntary, enjoyable activity with no purpose or end goal. Believe it or not, activities like this lay the foundation for a child to become a curious and excited learner later in life.

Play-based learning helps children develop social skills, motivation to learn, and even language and numeracy skills. Taking initiative, focused attention, and curiosity about the world are all a part of play.

Play-based learning helps a child develop holistically through social-emotional learning, developing confidence and motivation, and practicing cognitive skills. The academic or traditional approach to early childhood education is more focused

2. Nursery
( 3  years to 4 years – according to the recent Govt notification regarding age criteria of NEP)

Nursery or preschool plays an important role in your child’s overall personality development. Exposure to the world through the right academic source is necessary and this is when nursery schooling becomes significant for beginners. With formal education, the child is exposed to several new learning concepts that influences their growth years positively.

Elements of Nursery programme

1. Development of Social and Emotional Behavior – Nursery school is a great way for children to learn the simple things in life like co-operation, sharing, respect and self-learning. A nursery school is an independent environment for your child to explore and learn. It strengthens the foundation and teaches them to be self-independent socially and emotionally.

2. Development of Language and Mathematical Skills – Some children only speak their mother tongue before stepping into pre-school/nursery phase. Children start learning other languages like Hindi and English along with mathematical skills using pictorial books, symbols, blocks and objects. This enables primary school learning with the right set of language and analytical skills considering numbers and alphabets.

3. Building Confidence – It’s the millennial era, even the learning process for primary education has evolved. Shishuloka focuses on practical knowledge more than the bookish concepts. This helps your child to be expressive about their thoughts and actions since the initial phase and elevates the child’s self-esteem in the right direction.

4. Preparing for elementary school – With the right guidance and learning at our school, you can be sure of your children to turn smart in communicating and expressing their thoughts confidently in front of teachers and parents. This is a result of multiple interactive sessions in the class such as story telling, reciting poems, drawing, role play and many more activities which prepare children practically for the next academic level.

Another significant habit that children imbibe from nursery school is toilet training, which plays a significant role in making your child self-reliant and Shishuloka makes sure to make your child an independent person precisely.

3. Kindergarten

Kindergarten  education forms the basis for further education and children are taught using a combination of play methods and structured education methods. Kindergarten is the first systemized classroom experience your child will encounter and in India it is divided into two stages. The kindergarten system varies in different countries and it forms an integral of part of lower level education. The Two Stages The two stages of kindergarten are as follows:

  • Lower Kindergarten (LKG) or Junior KG ( 4 years to 5 years – according to the recent Govt notification regarding age criteria of NEP)

  • Upper Kindergarten (UKG) or Senior KG ( 5 years to 6 years – according to the recent Govt notification regarding age criteria of NEP)

  • Advanced UKG.(  Those who finished UKG and have no age eligibility for 1st standard ).

Importance of Kindergarten

  • How to learn: Kindergarten teaches children to understand learning as something fun. Instead of being stressed the first time they’re in a classroom, they enjoy the experience.

  • Social interaction: At home, children have little chance to see anyone their own age. Kindergarten teaches them to develop social skills. They learn to open up, share, and make friends.

  • Creativity: Kindergarten is where children learn free expression and creative ways to learn. They can later apply these methods when they reach higher grades.

  • Preparing for higher grades: Kindergarten helps children ease the transition from home to school. At home, they’re not used to paying attention to other adults. They learn structures and routines. Children also learn the basics for further grades.

  • Future success: Going to a great kindergarten can have a huge impact on your child’s future success. From going to college to how much they earn, early education has a big role to play.

4. Developmental Goals

Kindergartens are less focused on teaching and more on developmental goals. Ideally, by the time children are 6 (end of UKG), we help them to achieve the following milestones.

  • Physical Skills

  • Gross Motor Skill

  • Fine Motor Skill

  • Cognitive Skills

  • Language skills

  • Social and Emotional Skills.
